Start with Quality

At Thompson Contracting, we do all of the things you expect of a grading contractor, from initial site clearing to final cleanup and paving.  But we also do a lot more - the kinds of things that make us a valuable partner on projects of any size.
On Site Management

Maintaining strict quality control on every project with which we're involved is the cornerstone of our business.

We accomplish this by assigning on-site managers to each project. This grass-roots management style ensures that our people have the hands-on experience to guide the work, the ability to quickly answer any questions, and the authority to make decisions as issues arise. More than anything else we do, this commitment to constant contact and first-hand knowledge is the heart of our business philosophy. And it's what keeps people we've worked with coming back to us again and again.

Partners on Every Project

Prior to the start of work on a project, we like to meet with the architect, developer and site engineer for a pre-build planning session. At this early stage, we can finalize details, agree on procedures and prepare contingencies ahead of any construction. And before any time - and money - is spent on site.

This also ensures that we establish good lines of communication with all of the principals involved - essential for the smooth progress of any project. Because inevitably, as work goes along, unforeseen events arise, changes have to be made, alternatives have to be examined. Since our managers are closely involved with the work, we can add a valuable perspective to this process, and help keep work flowing as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Managing Budgets and Schedule

Also critical at this early stage is confirming all schedule and budget requirements.

As the first contractor on-site, we're well aware that the speed with which we do our work will have a dramatic impact on both your ultimate completion date, and your profit & loss statement. This is why we make it our highest priority to meet agreed-upon deadlines without compromising quality - a policy that has helped this company grow largely from repeat business.

An Emphasis on Safety First

We take it as one of our main responsibilities to monitor the safety of the people and the environment on every project.

We fully comply with all OSHA regulations for worker safety, and do our own safety monitoring to make sure that our high standards are being maintained. We're also well-acquainted with all of the local zoning codes and specifications - especially the key differences from municipality to municipality.

Environmental Awareness

We are proud to say that we're extremely sensitive to environmental issues. It is part of our task to do our work with the minimum amount of intrusion necessary, and to safeguard and restore any protected areas we encounter.

In recent years, regulations surrounding silt run-off and erosion control have changed dramatically. Not only do we strictly adhere to the standards on every project, but we also make it our business to keep up with specifications as they change, both over time and among the various cities in the Triangle.
A Technological Edge

As land prices continue to rise and prime locations dwindle, contractors are forced to manage more difficult sites while keeping costs as low as possible. Our equipment plays a key role in making this happen. We take it as our responsibility to constantly be aware of technological advances, and to work with the latest equipment in the market to expedite the progress of every project.

Start with Quality

From the beginning, we've been committed to providing a quality service, as quickly as possible, at a fair price. That's why the majority of our work is repeat business. And that's what our goal is with you. We'll give you the highest quality on your project, because we also want to work on your next.
